Grandma's homemade apple slices

For approx. 20 pcs.

½ l buttermilk
25 g of yeast
4 egg yolks
50 g butter
250 g wheat flour
1 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon cardamom
4 egg whites

Heat the milk gently until hand warm. Stir the yeast into the milk. Stir in the egg yolks, one at a time. Melt the butter and cool it slightly. Mix flour, sugar, cardamom and butter with the milk mixture. Leave the dough to rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour. Beat the egg whites stiff and fold them carefully into the risen dough. Heat up the apple slice pan well and put fat in all the holes. Fill the holes with dough and bake the apple slices on low heat. Turn the apple slices with a knitting needle when they have a golden crust on the underside. They should bake for about 5 minutes in total.
