French toast

Here in 2023, we bring a series about avoiding food waste. It is both bad for the wallet and the environment that we throw away so much. We therefore bring, in each edition throughout 2023, tips and good ideas for utilizing leftovers that would otherwise be discarded or utilizing things that are in season so they last longer. Many of the recipes we have been hiding and finding since our mothers and grandmothers were young. Back then, you had a lot of focus on using everything up, nothing was basically discarded. Here you get one of the good old dishes that have largely been completely forgotten.. it is made with leftover French bread.. maybe you should make it for a cozy brunch this weekend?

 

French toast 

1 - 2 eggs
1 dl milk
1 tablespoon cane sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 small pinch of salt
4 slices of French bread
50 g butter

 Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and salt together in a bowl. Dip the bread in it. Let the butter become golden in a pan and fry the bread slices at an even heat for approx. 4 minutes on each side - until they are golden. Server possibly with creme fraiche and berries.
