Snowman
The Snowman's Little Adventure.
One winter evening, a very special snowman came to life. He was dressed in a tall, black hat and a fine, old scarf, and his round body had a touch of vintage charm. The snowman looked curiously around the small living room, which was filled with antique books, porcelain and candlesticks. He sighed happily, because here he felt at home, and it was as if he had always belonged among these old treasures. And when someone looked at him, it almost seemed to them that he was blinking back. Maybe it was just the play of light. Or maybe it was the snowman's way of saying "Thank you for giving me a place in your winter adventure."

You will need:
Linen fabric
Clay to the bottom
Paper – wax paper is used here, but you can also use newspaper
Pillow filling
Black peppercorns as eyes, buttons, etc.
Glue – possibly wood glue
Branch to nose
Coarse string to sew the arms on
Striped scarf fabric
Black fabric for the hat, here a remnant from an old jacket was used
Paper to draw patterns on
Paint to patina him white
Possibly vintage wax
Sewing machine, sewing needles, scissors, knitting needle, awl, etc.
Start by drawing a pattern for your snowman. You need to draw a body and two arms which of course must be the same. This snowman measures approx. 22 cm in height without hat. Cut out the pattern.
Sew the body and arms together on the machine, and turn them around so that the stitching is on the inside. I used a knitting needle to turn the arms and body around. Fill the body and arms with pillow filling.
Now you make a suitable lump of clay and wrap it in your paper. Put the clay well into the body, so that the snowman's body becomes very firm. Tie the ends together at the bottom. Tap the snowman down against the table so that the clay forms a heavy bottom, and he stands firm and straight. Tie the arms roughly to each side. Paint the snowman with white chalk paint, preferably very sloppily. While the paint dries, you can make the hat.
How to make the hat:
Cut a strip of black fabric to the height you want the hat to be. This hat is about 5 cm high. Cut two squares for the top and bottom of the hat. Brush wood glue onto the black strip of fabric and the two squares. Now roll up a tight roll of the fabric strip that will form the hat. You can tie the edge with black sewing thread if you wish. Cut the roll at both ends so that it is straight at the edges. Glue the two squares onto the roll at both top and bottom.
When the wood glue is dry, the fabric has become hard and you can trim the top and cut the hat brim to the desired size. Now glue the hat to the snowman and if desired, it can also be sewn on with black thread. Now press holes for the nose, eyes and buttons with a pointed awl, and glue peppercorns and a branch for the nose on with wood glue. Tear a strip of the striped fabric as a scarf and tie it around your snowman's neck.
Enjoy. From Janne.
