Beautiful Easter eggs
These incredibly fine and decorative eggs that Ramona has made are dyed completely naturally with plants that are easy to get hold of. They are also both easy and fun to make, for the whole family. We will make them at our creative monthly meeting on Tuesday, I am really looking forward to that.
You will need:
10 - 12 white eggs,
1 pair of tights,
twine,
scissors,
herbs and flowers for decoration,
2 pots,
water and vinegar,
50 g walnut shells for the brown eggs,
150 g fresh and dry ivy leaves
50 gr. dried nettle, - can be omitted
Here's how you do it:
Make the dye bath the day before. Roughly chop the plants and the shells from the walnuts and cook them separately, with the water in the pan, for at least 15 minutes. Cool and leave overnight. Strain the plant brew the next day.
Brown eggs: ½ liter of water / 50 gr. walnut shells
Green eggs: ½ liter of water - 50 g dried ivy and nettle / 100 g fresh ivy
Clean the eggs with vinegar and place flowers or leaves decoratively on them. Moisten them, put them on and fix them with silk stockings. Wrap the stocking around the egg and tie the silk stocking tightly.
Put the eggs in the pots and cook on high heat for 15 minutes. Then let the eggs soak in the water for several hours or preferably overnight.
Take the eggs out of the dye bath, remove the stocking and decorations and let them dry on their own.
Thanks to Ramona from Time and Vision for the nice pictures.
