Silvia's cute snowmen
These cute snowmen were designed by Janne from Anno1808. You can buy a material kit on her website www.anno1808.dk where you can also buy her book "Creative Christmas" which was published in 2022. You will need:
Aluminum foil
Cotton
Glue: for paper and for wood
Wire
Glitter
Paint: white, black and orange
Small Christmas tree
Heavy cardboard - for example from a cardboard box
Small long piece of white fabric or cheese cloth for the scarf
Brushes for applying glue and paint

"Snow effect" - Which is a mixture of white lime paint and fine beach sand. See the recipe below for how to make this snow effect.
Snow effect:
To prepare the snow effect, the recipe from Anno 1808 "Creative Christmas" is used. This mixture can be used on things and materials to achieve the look of old sugar decorations, snow, etc. It can also be used as a snow effect on cotton figures.
- White chalk paint
- Very fine beach sand
Here's how you do it:
Mix paint and sand together. You can experiment with how much sand you want in the paint. The more sand, the thicker and stronger snow effect you achieve.
Here's how you do it:
Face: use your hands to form a round shape with the aluminum foil. Body: make a longer shape for the body. Then wrap another larger piece of aluminum foil around both pieces to form one piece.
Make strips of cotton wool into small and large pieces. Make enough pieces to cover the entire snowman. Apply glue with a small brush to the figure and stick one piece of cotton wool on at a time. Add glue on top of the wadding as well, to seal it. Work in small areas at a time and continue until the entire snowman is covered in white.
Leave the snowman to dry overnight, or in the oven or with the help of a hair dryer. In the meantime, prepare the hat and the base on which the snowman will stand: Draw and cut two round shapes on the cardboard. A small one for the base of the hat and a larger one that you will later use for the snowman base. Shape a hat in the same way as the body and head, with cotton wool and glue. You can decide the shape and form yourself. Glue it to the small round cardboard base.
Make 4 small round buttons and a nose with small pieces of cotton wool. Form the arms using two long pieces of thread wrapped in cotton wool. Glue arms, buttons, nose and hat on the snowman.
Paint the nose in orange. The buttons and hat with black. Another option is for you to paint these pieces before gluing them to the snowman. Do what you think works best.
Glue the body to the base. We recommend glue for wood so that it is more resistant. Glue a bit of cotton wool to the bottom around the snowman
Prepare the snow effect mix: Add a bit of this mix to the snowman's floor, body and hat. Add glitter wherever you think now that the mixture is still wet so it sticks more easily. You can also add glitter directly into the snow effect mix if you prefer.
Paint the eyes and mouth with a thin marker. Then make a scarf by tearing a piece of white cheesecloth and rubbing some tea or coffee into the fabric to give it a slightly aged look. Final decoration: How about adding a small Christmas tree. Trim the bristles if necessary. Add some snow effect blend on the tree.
