Hanger for dried herbs

By Janne from Anno1808

I found this branch on a walk in the woods with my dog. There are many of these large branches where the bark has been peeled off, so they look a bit like driftwood. I brought it home and the idea arose to use it for this little cozy DIY.

You will need:
A large branch, this one is about 5 cm in dia.
Approximately 1 ½ m. rope, this is a coconut rope, approximately ½ cm thick.
Small hooks or cleats.
Sisal string to tie around the herbs or flowers.
Saw, knife, hammer, drill, drill bit and tape measure.

Start by cleaning the branch of any remaining bark. Saw the branch to the appropriate length, I made this 70 cm.

Drill two holes in the branch, one at each end. Here the holes are placed about 5 cm in.

First drill a small hole in the ends of the branch and then drill out the hole with a larger drill bit. This is the best way to ensure that the branch does not crack.

Now you put the rope through the holes and tie a knot at the ends. You can decide how long or short the rope should be.

You can put small hooks or clamps in the branch. Here I have used some clamps that I found in the hardware store, as they looked a little old. I have chosen to put 5 clamps in this branch. You can put more if you wish. Now you can make small bundles of herbs and hang them on the branch, with coarse string around them. You can also hang flowers, so they can hang and decorate while they dry.

Enjoy.
Janne.

TIP
Make several hangings and hang them under each other to create lots of volume.
