New life for a piece of furniture

It's amazing what paint can do to a piece of furniture. Wooden furniture can be really beautiful, but we creative people miss a little change in the home from time to time, and here paint becomes our rescue and good friend.

If your furniture is made of pine, before you paint, you must cover the knobs with a special product so that the yellow in the knobs does not seep through the layers of paint. Ask your local color dealer what you need for it. And then it's just a matter of getting started with the brush.

To give the furniture a delicious worn vintage look, the secret is 2-3 different colors of paint in layers, and then fine sandpaper. You decide the colors yourself, but think about which tones and shades you want that can be seen after you have sanded. Sand lightly between each coat of paint. You must create the final worn look at the very end. Sand extra where there would naturally be wear marks - e.g. at corners, edges and around handles. You decide the final look and how worn it should look. When you think it is absolutely perfect, you can give the cabinet a layer of matt lacquer if there are surfaces you often need to wipe with a damp cloth.
