Lavender scented sachets
Making lavender scented sachets with lavender from the garden is a lovely and fragrant summer activity. Follow this guide to create beautiful, aromatic scented sachets. Silvia has made these lovely scented sachets with lavender inside from fabric scraps. They are wonderful as fragrant decorations, e.g. in the bathroom.
What you need:
Old pieces of fabric in natural and sturdy quality for the bags themselves, and floral fabrics for decoration.
Old buttons
Dried lavender
Needle and thread or a sewing machine
Saks
Needles
Here's how you do it:
Prepare the fabric:
Choose fabric scraps and tear out two rectangles for each bag. Go for a natural, slightly frayed look.
Tear small squares and cut out little hearts from the fabric to decorate the bags. Use scissors to fray the edges of the hearts for extra charm.
Decorate one rectangle with fabric patches, buttons and hearts.
Sew all pieces together with the raw edges facing out for a rustic and old-fashioned look.
Use a combination of zigzag and straight stitches to emphasize the rustic look.
If the front of the fabric is too bright in color, you can use the back of the fabric for the small hearts for a more subdued look.
Fill the bags with dried lavender.
Sew the opening closed with straight stitches.
Tear a strip of fabric and tie around the bag to close it.
Have fun!
