Wreath made from fabric scraps
By Silvia from @losmimisarmoire
Making this wreath can take over two hours – why not invite a friend over and have fun tying and chatting while you do it?
materials:
Approximately 1,50 meters of fabric (the exact amount may vary depending on the type of fabric)
A metal ring for the wreath
A pair of scissors
A little time and patience
Step-by-step:
Cut the fabric into strips of approx. 16 x 3 cm. In the example, an airy, natural-colored linen fabric (approx. 90 grams) has been used – perfect for the Boho look, as it fringes beautifully.
Tie the fabric strips to the metal ring with simple knots. Work in sections and push the knots tightly together for a full look.
Turn the wreath regularly and push the fabric ends forward for an even and voluminous look.
Some fabric strips may twist when you tie them. If this happens, turn the wreath over and straighten the ends.
Do not make double knots – the fabric should fall naturally, otherwise you will need more fabric.
It's that simple! But now you can decorate your wreath if you want: Add a brooch with pearls or rhinestones for an elegant touch – maybe you have one lying around that you no longer use. Old jewelry with glitter can also be used. Add lace ribbons or fabric flowers for a romantic look. Be creative! You can also mix different fabric scraps and colors. If you are using thicker fabric like muslin, you may need less than 1,50 feet. A neutral wreath can easily be adapted to the seasons – add flowers in spring, fir branches in winter, etc.
Enjoy the creative process!
