Christmas angel
Here, Janne from Anno1808 has made a large rustic angel, inspired by the small white paper angels that were hung on Christmas trees as decorations. The idea came because she thought it would be nice to have a slightly large angel that could hang as a decoration on a cupboard, a door or an old hook.
You will need:
Paper for template, here I have used paper with a checkered pattern.
Cardboard from a cardboard box.
Polyfilla powder, bought in hardware stores.
Small sharp knife or scissors.
Awl to make holes.
Furniture wax.
Cold coffee for patination.
Dark steel wire or string for hanging.
Here's how you do it:
Start by drawing an angel on the checkered paper and draw the angel on your cardboard. This angel measures approx. 50 cm. in length. Cut out the angel with a knife and/or cut with scissors. A serrated knife is good to use for the coarse cardboard.
Mix a thick paste of polyfilla and cover the whole angel with the mass. Also fill the cardboard holes on the side of the angel. When the angel is dry on one side, turn it over and cover the other side. If you want to give your angel extra strength, just apply an extra layer of polyfilla mass.
When your angel is completely dry, you can patina it with wax and coffee. Make two holes with an awl for hanging and attach a piece of thread through the two holes. Have fun!
