Cozy fabric pumpkins

If you have a lot of fabric scraps and lace scraps, you can easily turn them into these beautiful pumpkins. It's recycling at its best, and you can even save them from year to year. We have used both old dresses, tablecloths and curtains for these. At the bottom of the article you can see a small video on how to make the pumpkins. The gourds can be made in all sizes and fabrics. Use them as place cards, as decorations on the dining table or a tray, shelf or a staircase. Feel free to combine lanterns or candlesticks and flowers with them to create a beautiful still life that will last forever.

For sweet fabric pumpkins you will need:
Fabric residue
Cotton wool/stuffing (we recycled cotton wool from an old pillow)
Cord
A small piece of a branch
Possibly a sewing machine
Glue gun

Cut out a rectangular piece of fabric. Fold it in half with the back facing out and sew around the edge with the sewing machine. You can also do it by hand if you don't have a sewing machine. Turn the "bag" over so that the beautiful side faces out. Stuff stuffing in until the bag is 2/3 full. Tie a string loosely around it. Insert a stick into the hole and tighten firmly. Cut off the excess fabric and wrap the string around several times. Now you have to tie the string around the fabric so that the pumpkin shape is created. It is not so important that they sit symmetrically. Wrap the string around as many times as you think to make it all look harmonious. Finally, wrap more string around to hold it all together. Glue the last piece of string with the glue gun.
