Recycle old sweaters for hats and gloves

Sometimes there is a need to clean up the wardrobe, but have you thought that things can be re-sewn? Old knitted sweaters can be reused and, with a bit of dexterity, sewn into beautiful hats, scarves and mittens. Here we have sewn three sets out of three old knitted sweaters.

You can use the ribbed edges of the sweaters as the edge of your hat or mittens. Start by making a model of, for example, the mitten, so you are sure it fits your hand. Cut out the fabric according to the model and remember to add 1 cm to the sewing. Machine sew all the way around, wrong side, except at the ribbed edge. Turn around and now fold the ribbed edge once, as you can see in the picture.

The hats are sewn as a tube, on which a tassel in a matching color is sewn. The scarf is just the belly piece of the sweater that has been cut off and hemmed. For the headband, it is a smaller piece of a sleeve that has been sewn in the same way. Here you can put an extra small piece on as decoration. If you have a large men's sweater, it can be turned into a short poncho by sewing on a border at the top.
