Old doors
If you have the opportunity to get your hands on old doors, take the chance. Old doors often have a really nice patina, and the possibilities for what you can use them for are so many. Here we give you some suggestions on how to upcycle the beautiful old doors and give them new functions. We have chosen to leave the doors with the original paintwork and the natural patina that they now have. It is of course a matter of taste whether you like it. They can easily be sanded and painted.
The partition is made of two doors of the same size, which are joined together with hinges so that they can be folded in and out. One door is mounted on the wall. The partition can be folded all the way to the wall if you live small and occasionally need to create space for guests, but it can also be used as here, half unfolded, or fully unfolded as a real partition.
Make a daybed with a door as a base, and with legs made from a sawn pallet. You can also buy four large wheels and put them underneath. It is an incredibly simple and cheap solution if you want a daybed. Above the sofa hangs a bookcase made from a pallet frame.
Panel walls are one of the things that we have a great weakness for. They create coziness and add a special charm to a room. They are relatively easy to make if you make them from old infill doors. Fasten them lengthwise and make a small shelf on top where you can place a picture or a couple of candlesticks. The shelf can be made in the width you want, and possibly painted in the same color as the panels.
The entrance furniture is a painted door, and one of the fillings has been painted with blackboard varnish. Two shelves have been made, so there is room to put shoes and keys and the like away when you get home. And then there are hooks for outerwear. Everything has been painted in the same color so that it forms a whole. Finally, the furniture was screwed to the wall. The top field can also be filled with a mirror instead of blackboard lacquer.
We hope that you have found lots of good inspiration for decorating with old doors.
Enjoy!
