Pumpkin festival in the herb garden
In 2018 we had this beautiful herb garden and orangery. All that year we followed the path of the garden and tried to grow different things. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the pumpkins, but luckily it was possible to get them from various roadside stalls. Autumn decorations were needed, and this fine reportage came out of that. It is almost the end of harvesting vegetables, berries and plants in the herb garden for this year. It has really been an exciting and educational process. Now that it's all disappearing, the summer is over, and there's still some time for us to really kick it up a notch with Christmas decorations inside and out, we feel something else needs to happen. We have therefore been on the country road and find stalls where they sell pumpkins. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see them in the garden this year. We gave it a good go and removed everything that had started to wilt. To create atmosphere, we have planted spring onions (sempervivum) and autumn plants such as wind witch (salsoloideae), autumn anemone (anemone japonica), heather (erica) and Christmas rose (helleborus). We have planted it all in different old sandstone pots and mixed them with our own new pots from jdl home.
Between the pots, with which we have made various arrangements around the garden, we have placed various pumpkins and squash. As we are not fond of orange, we have chosen to buy exclusively in green and whitish shades. In several places, we have also put some in the beds and made small arrangements in the stone flour. A few lanterns create coziness, especially when darkness falls. to get some height on the set-ups, we used an old stepladder and the large concrete table, among other things. It will not be used for sitting and eating for the next several months, so it is obvious to make a nice arrangement on it, which we can enjoy all winter, or at least until Christmas is at the door. Make sure to make the arrangement nice from all sides when you make it on a round table.
