In recent years, I have become very fond of slow days. Days without too many plans and without the feeling of having to be on all the time. I enjoy the luxury of being able to do things at a human pace. Walk around the house a bit. Fix something small. Make another cup of coffee, just because the first one tasted good. I can spend an unreasonable amount of time moving plants and furniture around. And I actually love it. Maybe that is also why creativity has taken on a bigger place in my life. Not always the big projects, but the small creative moments that provide peace and presence. Creating something with your hands. Getting an idea and following it without rushing. Immersing yourself, forgetting time for a bit and just being in the process. That is precisely the feeling that this edition of the magazine revolves around. Creativity as free space. As joy.
Before we know it, Christmas is knocking on the door. The time of year when many of us feel like creating, decorating, baking, collecting and making a little extra out of the little things. How creative projects often become part of the fun. The older I get, the less impressed I am by busyness. On the other hand, I have been deeply impressed by people who make others feel good. Maybe that is also why communities have come to fill more and more of my life in recent years. I have sought out communities, created some myself and discovered how much life actually exists in small meetings between people. I love when we have experiences together, are creative together, or when a table slowly fills with people, coffee in old cups, laughter and conversations that take detours. Maybe that is where the quality of life lives for me now.
Maybe you know that feeling? I hope so, and I also hope that this magazine can give you a little of that feeling. Peace, inspiration and something to immerse yourself in. A feeling that we are sitting here together for a while. A little free space in a world that sometimes moves a little faster than you want. Let this be an invitation to create, dream and find joy in the little things, and to slowly start looking forward to the Christmas season that is just around the corner. Enjoy reading.
Love
Vivian
