Creative summer holiday?

A fun summer project is to build your own solar car, using only recycled materials. It's both fun and relatively easy - and it fits perfectly into the wild and natural garden. Get hold of an old pram, a stack of old boards and then it's just a matter of getting started. See below how to do it.

In the shade under a tree or a parasol, a few good pillows in the back, a book and a good cafe latte - it doesn't get much better! You can easily do without the wheels, but that makes the solar cart extra charming. We have built it so that the back can be set up.

You will need: 2 pcs. 145*45 mm rules a 2,45 m, 1 pc. 145*45 mm rules a 0,75 m, 2 pcs. 145*45 mm rules a 0,25 m, 4 pcs. 70*40 mm battens a 0,66 m, 2 pcs. 70*40 mm battens a 0,60 m, 2 pcs. 70*40 mm battens a 0,58 m, 2 pcs. 20*45 mm strips of 0,40 m, 1 pc. 20*45 mm strip a 0,66 m, 4 pcs. 150*25 mm formwork a 0,70 m, 4 pcs. 150*25 mm formwork a 1,76 m, 30 pcs. 50*60/90 screws 40*40, 3 sets of hinges, 1 set of wheels possibly from a pram.

Here's how you do it:

Saw the wood into the different lengths. The bottom frame is assembled from 2 pcs. rules of 2,45 m, 1 pc. rule of 0,75 m and 1 pc. batten of 0,66 m. Screw it together to form an elongated frame. The batten is mounted flush with the bottom, so that the back piece can later be laid down on it. Remember to drill for the screws so that the wood does not split. From the foot end, mount the last 3 pieces. battens of 0,66 m. The first right up to the footing. From there, mount an 88 cm from there, measured to the center of the tree. The last one is mounted 176 cm from the foot end, measured to the center of the tree. They are all countersunk by 25 mm from the upper edge of the frame, so that there is room for the formwork boards later. Turn the frame over and fit the 2 pieces. rules of 25 cm as legs. Assemble the axle with the wheels. If the axle is not long enough, you can have the local blacksmith weld a piece in. Turn the frame over so it is standing on the legs and wheels. Collect the 2 pcs. strips of 0,4 m and the strip of 0,66 m for the backrest. Mount it on the frame flush with the bottom and approx. 10 cm from the batten. You are now ready to mount the long formwork boards as a base. Distribute them at equal intervals. Drill and screw them in place. Collect the 2 pcs. battens of 0,6 m and 0,58 m for the back frame. Cut 3 bushels. 1 crochet at the top, 1 crochet approx. 15 cm from the bottom and 1 loop in the middle between the other 2. In this way, the back support can be adjusted to 3 different heights. Fit the last formwork boards to the frame so that they lie flush with the base. Distribute the spaces so that they align with the spaces on the lying surface of the chair. Lay your back down on the pram so that it lies with the back facing up on the seat of the pram. Mount it with the 3 hinges. 1 pc. in each side and 1 pc. in the middle.
