Furnished with rustic wood

When we face winter and it gets colder and windier outside, we get the urge to crawl inside, create a cave atmosphere and enjoy ourselves. Light the fireplace and stove, light candles and read good books.

Add something more rustic to the interior this time of year. Because it's really nice. Dark things with a natural patina are fun to look for in stashes and markets, e.g. old boxes and books. Just as we now pack away our summer clothes for the winter, the home also needs to be dressed for autumn. It is quite natural to replace the more summery of the home textiles with coarser types in linen, coarse cotton, knitted or crocheted textiles and not least leather and things made of rustic WOOD.

Use an old rustic cable drum. This one has numbers stamped into the wood and has a great weathered color after years of use. On the drum, a small bouquet of decorative seed pods is laid out together with a fine, old book and an old photograph. Here, there is no doubt that autumn has moved into the living room. Together with antlers and things made of iron and weathered wood, you get the more rustic style that suits autumn so well.

Make a rustic wooden bookcase
The beautiful bookcase that hangs on the wall in the study is made from old pallet frames. On the outside, a whole frame and inside, simple shelves are made from another frame. The rustic iron fittings on the corners have been preserved entirely on purpose. This makes the shelf even more rustic. An old wooden box is used for storing wallpaper and posters.

You can also make this fun notice board yourself from some old boards. Here we have used an old door, on which we have painted a few stencils. With small nails, we have set up large clips on which you can collect papers and pictures. A beautiful notice board that is both decorative and practical.
