Happy New Year.
Recently, Sif and I have held quite a few courses, we have held many events here at JDL over the autumn and winter, and I have been away on more photo assignments than usual. The people who cross my path are really interesting people, people who, in addition to our common interests, are also the same age or slightly older than me. We are "in the middle of life", which means that in many ways we have a community and an understanding of each other. Many good conversations and many new friendships have come out of it, here in 2023, which fills me with gratitude and brings me on to what I have in mind today.
Being in the middle of life is like standing on top of a mountain and looking back on the journey you've had while looking ahead to new adventures. It is a time that is filled with a certain wisdom and calm, but also with a renewed energy and enthusiasm.
One of the biggest advantages of this phase is the insight and experience gained over the years. Life has been full of learning moments, both joys and challenges, that have shaped the person you are today. In mid-life, one is often able to look back with a certain gratitude and understanding, despite life's challenges, which can lead to inner peace and acceptance. That's how I feel personally, and that's how I hear that most of those I meet on my way feel.
Along with this inner calm also comes a feeling of freedom. Many of us reach a point where we have achieved some milestones in our personal and professional lives, which can free up time to pursue new passions or interests. It can be personal growth and self-development, where you are more open to exploring new aspects of yourself and seeing the world around you with new eyes. Or it may be time to immerse yourself in a new hobby or learn something new that is outside your comfort zone. I am extremely pleasantly surprised at how many middle-aged people have taken part in our courses, here in 2023, and to see how much it gives them.
In the middle of life you have learned what really matters. It is a time to truly cherish the close connections and create memories with those you care about. It is also a time when many are open to meeting new people and creating solid relationships and deep friendships, and cherish them.
In addition, this stage of life is associated with a certain maturity, where one has a better understanding of what is important for one's mental and physical well-being. Therefore, health and well-being are often prioritized, in a more conscious way, and a balance between work and leisure is sought. Something I have especially realized in the past two years.
All in all, being in the middle of life is a special time to celebrate one's experiences, find joy in the small moments of everyday life, and be grateful for the journey that still lies ahead. It is a time that contains both wisdom, freedom, deep relationships and the opportunity for continued personal growth and discovery.
On the eve of a new year, I would like to send you my warmest wishes. Let's say goodbye to the old year together with gratitude. In the new year that lies ahead, I sincerely hope that it will be filled with new opportunities, experiences and enriching moments for you. Let's remember to appreciate the little things in life and show love and care for each other.
Thank you for your support in 2023. Happy New Year!
