French atmosphere in the wine cellar

We are visiting Grethes and Lars' wine cellar. The couple live in Hellerup in Denmark and are totally crazy about all things French. Grethe's interest in the French style goes back many years, and both she and Lars have always thought that old things with history can do something very special. So of course they had to make a French wine cellar in the house. What an experience. They have gone all in, one must say. To create just the right atmosphere, the French long table is set with beautiful, old, French glasses, pewter plates, old knives and of course the decoration on the table, which is made in a head of cabbage! Various French chairs have been chosen to make it all as authentic as possible, and we have really succeeded in creating a perfect atmosphere. You feel completely prepared for a hot summer day, where you seek shelter from the heat in the cool wine cellar at a wine castle.

Grethe and Lars both love that their home is unique and each item is carefully selected. They enjoy going to the markets together and finding all things French. They have got hold of several of the old wine racks, which have certainly been in the old wine castles, and Grethe is sure that these are the same racks that are still used in the castles. Old desks, barrels, wine boxes, bunches of dates and signs are also a large part of the decor. The bookcase is full of beautiful, French things and cases, all of which have been specially selected to create just the right atmosphere.

The decoration on the table consists not only of the cabbage with a candle in it, but also of several other things, such as small Brussels sprouts and a few artichokes, washed hyacinth bulbs and whole garlic. Incredibly different and brilliant. The decoration fits perfectly with the rustic setting.
