A world of vintage
One of the lovely trips Lars and I had last year was the trip to Northern Germany, where we visited Iris and Herwig, among other things. Although we had some language difficulties, we had a fantastically enjoyable day together. We were there to do an article for the magazine. It is one of the hidden treasures found here in the half-timbered house, located in the town of Kronshagen in Northern Germany. However, the beautiful old house is by no means typically German, it is inspired by the English cottage houses. It looks adventurous and exciting already from the outside and inside it is a wonderful world of vintage that meets us. The many small rooms offer new surprises all the time.
Iris and her husband Herwig bought the 100-year-old house 32 years ago. As a child, her way to school led past this house every day. She always called it the witch's house. It was very run down but still beautiful and very adventurous. Iris has always wanted to live in it one day. That this dream came true was truly a coincidence. The house has been renovated from top to bottom and the couple love it! There are so many nice details and fun angles that make it really special. Everything is a little crooked, the old floorboards are cracking and none of the old windows are really tight, but that's just part of this old house for them.
At one end of the house, Iris runs her hairdressing salon, which is of course also furnished with vintage finds, and in another house, a little way from here, is the shop - Klein-Lönneberga, selling everything the heart desires in terms of style. They have had it alongside their other jobs since 2014 and it is purely a hobby and arose out of a passion for old things.
However, the interest has always been there. Iris has dealt with old things and decorations all her life. She gets energy from surrounding herself with beautiful things and decorating. One of the things Iris loves is also recycling things in new ways. An old drawer that is converted to store herbs in the kitchen, for example. There are many favorite things and furniture that the couple have collected over the decades. They are safe and secure at home and are not replaced, even though they constantly find new beautiful things in the markets they visit when they go shopping at the store.
Iris has worked full-time as a hairdresser for the past 40 years. The business has been in the family for the past 60 years. The salon is furnished with old hairdresser's chairs, beautiful mirrors, shutters and lots of vintage finds.
The vintage shop Klein Lönneberga has become a shared passion over time. In the past when Iris bought old furniture and her husband said, what do you want with the old junk.. gradually he has learned to trust her instinct and has started to be able to see what these things do to the interior. The company's motto is LIVE LIFE HAPPY - and that's what the couple tries to help their customers with. So they get to create a cozy and personal home that makes them happy in everyday life. They themselves know how much it means to your mood to surround yourself with things that make you happy.
