The green room

Back in 2016, we made this green bedroom from things we had found at flea markets. Our style at that time was very brocante, very worn and with lots of details. Looking back now, this room seems almost completely theatrical. As if it was made as a backdrop for a play, or an old film. It was beautiful, and very well done. Read here what we wrote back in October 2016.

After all, we get around a lot at various flea markets and in shops that deal in original, old things and furniture. A few times lately we have fallen for this old furniture in beautiful, green colours. Not really a color we usually do so much in, but we thought the furniture was wildly charming, and one piece of furniture in particular had an absolutely fantastic patina. When you come across a piece of furniture with a very special, original patina, we think it would be a shame to paint it over. Therefore, you are sometimes challenged to make this fine, old furniture fit in.

We were lucky enough that when we had to remove the old wallpaper during the renovation of the room here, some incredibly nice walls emerged in blue and green colors. The green color matches perfectly with the old, green-painted furniture. We also found an old hospital bed in the same green colour. We have furnished the bedroom with delicious bedding in coarsely woven linen and textiles in vintage beige and creamy shades. It makes a lot of sense that the old furniture and the walls, which are very prominent, are combined with neutral colors such as cream, brown and beige. The wall decorations consist mainly of old frames, mats, loose pages from old books and wedding wreaths, which emphasize the raw style of the room.

In our search for green furniture, we actually came across a bit of variety in our own stashes. Among other things, the small cupboard, the birdcage and the stool with blue-green leather seat. The things are not the same color at all, but that only makes the interior more exciting. They are still shades of green, which is why they go together anyway. The brownish colors are almost golden to look at. We have also made a very patinated wall, where the green and the brownish/golden colors are repeated.
