Hills that collect big and small
If, like us, you are fond of nice little decorative items in your interior (some call them trinkets), trays are a great way to collect the many small things. Go hunting at flea markets and thrift stores for beautiful trays, or think a little outside the box and look for other flat objects that can also be used as a tray - a sign, a picture in glass and frame, a cutting board, a tile, etc. It is not meant to have hills all over, but here and there. It gives peace of mind.
We like it when it ties together a bit - that is, when there is a small theme in the line-up. Zinc trays with plenty of patina are always a hit with us. One arrangement is made with a collection of old straw cans. We like to make small collections of the same thing. It gives a good effect when you group things. An old pewter dish has been joined by some beautiful, old poor man's stands and a single vase.
The old baking tin for muffins is great for many small things that cannot stand on their own, such as ribbons and jewellery, but as a whole tells a story or is a theme. It could also be absolutely perfect for Christmas decorations and other small ornaments. The forms sit together on a frame, and this can be used as a tray. The completely unique, old wooden tray with a particularly beautiful patina is decorated with a couple of old frames and a stack of fine, fabric-covered boxes.
The large metal tray is arranged with a collection of our small, fine, old glass vases. Everyone has been given the same type of flower. As the vases are different both in size and appearance, it gives a calmer expression if you use the same flower, or decorations made of the same material.
Have fun creating layouts and arranging your own beautiful decorations.
