9. December
One of the pleasant pursuits of Christmas is making confectionery. That's how it is at our house. We often talk about dropping it, but always end up doing it anyway - because it's just not really Christmas without it. The last few years we have started to meet with the family on my side, both sisters, brothers-in-law and nephews and nieces - who now also have children. Then we enjoy ourselves and make confectionery and other Christmas goodies together. Not everyone likes marzipan. So burnt almonds, licorice in chocolate and other exciting things are also made. It has become a really nice tradition, I think, which can be recommended. The two recipes you get today are, however, of the more classic kind. Simple and with good ingredients, it can do just about anything.
You don't need many ingredients for these delicious and beautiful pieces of confectionery. A good marzipan, dark and white chocolate and muscovado sugar. One kind is balls, dipped in white melted chocolate (finally over a water bath) and then rolled in sugar. We have made the second variant in a different way, by rolling the balls in an egg part before they are covered with melted dark chocolate and decorated with a small sugar star. It doesn't have to be that advanced. It looks great and tastes good. You can of course choose to put filling into the marzipan, or add flavor in the form of spirits if you like.
