There are always some things you remember better than others and with the thousands of photos and articles we have made over the years, it is actually incredible that you remember most of them and the circumstances when they were made. Many I had forgotten all about, but during the work of making this Christmas calendar, it all came back. I clearly remember this article where we showed how to make different angel wings yourself. Among other things out of steel wire and lace but also someone who was made out of cardboard, a huge bag with feathers and HOURS of patient work. Each individual feather is simply glued on. It took several days as I recall. But how beautiful they turned out! The funny thing was that with inspiration from the old angel wings we had bought at a market, we subsequently made angel wings from feathers which were put into production. In the coming years, we sold an insane amount of angel wings, in all possible sizes and colors.

They were used as decorations on gins, coat racks, on gifts and tables (some of them were only 8 cm high, others were 120 cm.) They were even sold to theaters and used when plays were played and in a Christmas calendar on TV. Others bought them for when the children had to dress up as angels and for Lucia's recording.

I don't know if you can say they are still "in fashion", like so much else in "our" style, things don't really stop being useful and here up to Christmas, a pair of angel wings will always decorate if you ask me.

Hugs from Vivian
