December 4: Delicious cinnamon bread
We love baked goods with cinnamon at Christmas time. Here is the recipe for a nice cinnamon bread.
For one large or two smaller loaves, you will need:
Dough:
25 g of yeast
2 dl lukewarm water
2 dl milk
3 teaspoon of sugar
2 tsp salt
½ dl oil
500-600 g wheat flour
Filling:
3 tablespoons soft butter
5 teaspoons cinnamon
100 g Sugar
Here's how you do it:
First dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water and then add milk, oil, sugar and salt. Finally, the flour, which must be added little by little, as the dough must be slightly sticky, but still cohesive. Let the dough rise in a warm place under a cloth for about ½ hour.
Then turn the dough out onto a floured table. First shape the dough into a rectangle (slightly smaller than the loaf tin you will be baking the bread in) and then roll it out flat into an oblong rectangle (about 1 centimeter thick). The dough is then smeared with butter and then sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar that have been mixed. There must be an even layer over the entire surface of the dough. Now the dough is rolled up on the short side, so that you get the most "roll-ups" when you cut the bread. Put the bread in the greased loaf tin and brush with a beaten egg.
Bake the bread at 200 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. The bread is ready if it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. Serve the bread warm and with a good dollop of butter on top - remember coffee.
