You've probably already decorated the outside? But here is still some inspiration for how you can easily welcome your guests. Without it costing a fortune. Of course, not everyone has a nice old door or their own house, but you can still get a few tricks along the way. If you live in an apartment, you can do something by the door in the hallway and if you are not too keen on it, or if you lack space, you can do it in the entrance hall.

It is of course obvious if you - like here at Ole and Heidi's - have a large tree by the door, to decorate it. Or maybe you have the option of putting a Christmas tree in a pot or on a stand. Here we have made vines with small apples and put a string of lights on the beautiful thuja. Smaller can do it too. A small tree in a pot is also super nice. A basket of apples, a few lanterns and a wreath on the door is possible for everyone and creates instant atmosphere. It should be simple. The toboggan or a pair of old skis is nice but not essential.

The lanterns here are made from old jam jars, you can also use glass from the household. Tie a small ribbon and place a block candle or tealight in it. When we held a Christmas market recently, here at Kærby Mølle, I collected several glasses, tied steel wire around them and made a small handle. Tied ribbon and a small sprig of green on. I hung the smallest of the glasses in the trees in the garden and my olive trees on the terrace. I hung others on Christmas trees and on the coat rack in the entrance hall. Today, you can get artificial tealights, on batteries - if you are worried about the risk of fire.

Below you see the stairs at Kirsten and Ulrik's. A beautiful old staircase with a railing. Here we tied vines of fir and holly and tied on the railing on both sides. Another pair of lanterns, because candlelight is just so beautiful in this dark time. The homemade lanterns as described above will also be fine here. You can possibly put battery-operated string lights on the vines. We did that with a vine we put up around one of our doors this year. It is really nice to look at both inside and outside. On the door here, we have hung a small bouquet of spruce and holly, instead of a wreath.

Little things that make your guests welcome to your Christmas home.

Hugs from Vivian
